The remaining capacities include: develop, investigate, address, advocate, and understand. To approach growth in these capacities I will begin by building off my growth and understanding in the Consult and Create capacities. I will use my new understanding of what inclusion is, and build off making more meaning connections with students, and continue to work with colleagues on engaging units. Specifically, my plans to approach growth are:
Develop: I will look forward to engaging in the Blooksfield and Hutchinson articles and enriched discussion with other teachers around critical reflection.
Investigate: I will continue to complete the readings and class activities. I will strive to connect the readings to my practice and experiences.
Address: I am looking to more guest speakers, like Laurie Meston, that will educate me more about the social, moral, and ethical issues of inclusive education.
Advocate: By starting off the year focusing on the value my student's bring to the classroom, I hope this will contribute to their growth mindset and ability to self advocate. I will continue to provide my families with information of material we are learning about.
Understand: I will continue to use my journal as a reflection tool to seen relationships and connections between our learning in class and the contexts, students, and learning happening in my classroom.
